Good News for Huckabee Campaign

There's good news today for the Mike Huckabee campaign. The Evangelical Outpost blog today endorsed Huckabee. It is a joint endorsement with Mere Orthodoxy and Between Two Worlds. Yesterday Joe Carter at Evangelical Outpost withdrew his support for Fred Thompson and lamented not supporting Mike Huckabee earlier -- who was Joe's favorite candidate from the beginning. His reasoning for not supporting Huckabee sooner was that he didn't think Huckabee could win the nomination. I'm not sure Huckabee can win the nomination either but I applaud Carter and the others for taking a principled position and supporting who they think is the best candidate regardless of whether he passes the electability litmus test at this point.

The reason this is significant for the Huckabee campaign is because Evangelical Outpost is one of the most read blogs on the internet -- particularly among evangelical conservatives. This is quite a feather in the cap for the Huckabee campaign. We'll see if it translates into more fundraising and support for Mike Huckabee.

Religion Still Important in Presidential Politics

Religion and faith are emerging as important issues in the 2008 presidential race. Just yesterday that were news articles about winning the Catholic vote, Mitt Romney's religious delimma, and the buzz that Mike Huckabee made at the Value Voters Summitt over the weekend. Some are even talking about Huckabee in the top tier of republican candidates. Wouldn't be interesting in Huckabee won in Iowa?

Today there was an article about Rudy Guiliani and abortion.

I think it is important that religion and faith continue to play important roles in American politics and I'm glad to see front page news coverage of candidates' religious positions.

Also, this week the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducting Illuminated by Matt Bronleewe. I hope you get a chance to pick up a copy of this book.

NASCAR Disease?

For all my NASCAR friends I've provide a link to a Republican National Committee video. It seems that House Democrat aides advised staffers to get immunizations before attending this week's NASCAR race!

Here is the YouTube video.

All NASCAR fans should be screaming about this one!

Select a Candidate

On Thursday mornings, I do a 15 - 30 minute legal talk segment on Super Talk 97.7 with Stevie Ray Hemann. This morning Stevie Ray pointed out this quiz you can take on the WQAD website. Click on the Take the Quiz! link. I did and the result was that Fred Thompson most closely resembles my views. I encourage you to see how the candidates match up with your views and positions.

On a similar note, is the Religious Right marginalizing itself in this election? Some of the leaders of the Religious Right (James Dobson, Tony Perkins) are stating publicly that if neither political party nominates someone who is pro-life, then they plan to support a third party candidate. Here is an article in the American Spectator and another in Politico that discuss this topic. It is an interesting discussion but I hope it doesn't happen. If the Religious Right abandons the republican party then what will happen is that Hillary Clinton will be elected president. I don't think the republican party can win the White House without the religious right.

Lastly, this week the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducing Nobody by Creston Mapes. I hope you get a chance to pick up a copy of this book.
